Prospective study carried out in 42 patients with hip osteoarthritis treated by means of a single intra-articular infiltration of autologous stromal vascular fraction obtained from adipose tissue. During the six-month follow-up, significant improvements were observed in the scales used to assess function, symptoms and pain. Patients with less advanced osteoarthritis showed better clinical results, whereas imaging tests showed no significant changes in the articular cartilage.

Cohort study carried out in patients with osteochondral lesions of the talus. Fifty ankles treated with bone marrow stimulation were compared: 26 received only the conventional procedure and 24 also received an injection of stromal vascular fraction (SVF) containing adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal cells. The patients treated with SVF showed better results on pain, function and activity scales, as well as a better assessment of the repaired tissue by magnetic resonance imaging.

This systematic review analysed published clinical studies on the use of adipose tissue-derived stromal vascular fraction (SVF) for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. The authors reviewed the available evidence on safety, pain relief, functional improvement and potential effects on cartilage regeneration. Overall, the evaluated studies showed consistent improvements in pain and joint function following SVF treatment, with a favourable safety profile. However, the methodological quality of the papers was variable and there was significant heterogeneity in the techniques for obtaining, processing and administering the SVF.

This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of a stromal vascular fraction (SVF) obtained from autologous adipose tissue in patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis. A total of 184 patients were included, of whom 78 completed follow-up and were analysed. Participants received an intra-articular injection of a standardised SVF product (Celstem®) and were evaluated before treatment and at 1, 6 and 12 months using pain scales (VAS), joint function (KOOS), quality of life (SF-36) and magnetic resonance imaging (MOCART). Following treatment, significant improvements were observed in pain, knee function and quality of life, with few adverse effects reported. No significant changes were detected in the overall cartilage repair score by magnetic resonance imaging.

This clinical trial evaluated the efficacy and safety of the stromal vascular fraction (SVF) obtained from autologous adipose tissue for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Sixteen patients with bilateral knee osteoarthritis (Kellgren-Lawrence grades II-III) participated. Each patient received an injection of SVF in one knee and hyaluronic acid in the other, allowing a direct comparison within the same individual. Over 12 months, pain, function, mobility, and structural changes were analysed using magnetic resonance imaging. The results showed significant improvements in pain, function, and range of movement in the knees treated with SVF, alongside signs of cartilage repair, with no serious adverse effects being recorded.
